A Universal Monsters classic gets a fresh reinvention up on the big screen to kick off the first week of March, and The Bride! is being joined this week by nine other new horror movies.

In his first creature role since “The Incredible Hulk,” Lou Ferrigno plays a cannibalistic pig farmer in The Hermit. The film was released on VOD outlets this past Tuesday.
Malina Weissman (“A Series of Unfortunate Events”) and Anthony Turpel (“That ’90s Show”) star as self-absorbed teens dragged on a vacation to the woods.
Their outing quickly spirals into a nightmare as they fight for their lives against an unstoppable cannibal pig farmer who makes jerky made from human flesh.

“I’m very excited to announce my first horror film, The Hermit,” said Ferrigno. “I’ve always been a big fan of scary movies and I hope this one will be on everyone’s list to watch!”

Dying is not a choice in Whistle, the latest from The Nun director Corin Hardy. The cursed object horror movie is now available at home via Independent Film Company and Shudder.
The horror film follows a misfit group of unwitting high school students who stumble upon an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. Soon, they discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down.
As the body count rises, the friends investigate the origins of the cursed artifact in a desperate effort to stop the horrifying chain of events that they have set in motion.
Dafne Keen (Logan), Sophie Nélisse (“Yellowjackets”), Sky Yang (Rebel Moon), Jhaleil Swaby (“Supergirl”), Ali Skovbye (“Firefly Lane”), Percy Hynes White (“Wednesday”), Michelle Fairley (“Game of Thrones”), and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead) star.
Owen Egerton (Blood Fest) wrote the script, based on his own short story.

Christian Bale is Frankenstein’s Monster and Jessie Buckley is the Bride of Frankenstein in director Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!, a fresh take on the classic horror story.
The Bride! is now playing in theaters nationwide.
In the bold new film, “A lonely Frankenstein (Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!”
The film also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal, and Oscar winner Penélope Cruz. Maggie Gyllenhaal directs from her own screenplay.
In the original 1935 film from director James Whale, “After recovering from injuries sustained in the mob attack upon himself and his creation, Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive) falls under the control of his former mentor, Dr. Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger), who insists the now-chastened doctor resume his experiments in creating new life. Meanwhile, the Monster (Boris Karloff) remains on the run from those who wish to destroy him without understanding that his intentions are generally good despite his lack of socialization and self-control.”

Embracing gritty craftsmanship and practical effects, 1970s throwback horror movie Dolly is now playing only in theaters courtesy of Independent Film Company and Shudder.
Shot on 16mm film, the story centers on Macy, a young woman fighting for survival after being taken by a deranged, monstrous figure intent on raising her as their child.
Dolly is said to blend inspiration from gritty 1970s American horror like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes with the New French Extremity movement that yielded such works as High Tension, Martyrs, and Inside. Fabianne Therese, Seann William Scott, Ethan Suplee, and pro wrestler Max the Impaler star.
Rod Blackhurst (“Amanda Knox,” Night Swim) directs the horror throwback film from a script he co-wrote with Brandon Weavil, based on their 2022 short Babygirl.

Renny Harlin’s trilogy ends with The Strangers: Chapter 3, now available at home.
The film was released into theaters just one month ago.
In the final chapter of this new reboot trilogy, “Maya (Madelaine Petsch) faces the masked killers one last time in a brutal, full-circle reckoning of survival and revenge.”
Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Deep Blue Sea) once again directs from a script by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland. Gabriel Basso (Super 8), Ema Horvath (“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”), Pablo Sandstrom, and Richard Brake (Barbarian) also star.

A quiet night shift gets explosive in gross-out ways for Joe Keery (“Stranger Things “) and Georgina Campbell (Barbarian, The Watchers) in the sci-fi horror comedy Cold Storage.
The film is now available on Digital at home.
In Cold Storage, “Teacake (Keery) and Naomi (Campbell), two young employees of a self-storage company built on the site of an old US military base, have their wildest night shift ever when a parasitic fungus escapes from the lowest sublevel of the base, where it was sealed by the government decades before. As the temperature rises underground, this highly contagious and rapidly mutating microorganism multiplies and unleashes its brain-controlling, body-bursting terrors on the facility’s inhabitants – human and otherwise.
“With time running out, it’s down to Teacake and Naomi, with the help of a grizzled retired bioterror operative (Liam Neeson), to contain the merciless menace and prevent the explosive extinction of Mankind itself.” Sosie Bacon (Smile), Vanessa Redgrave (Mission: Impossible), and Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) also star in the horror-comedy.
The follow-up feature to Jurassic World: Rebirth and Presence from esteemed writer David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Death Becomes Her), based on Koepp’s novel of the same name, is directed by Jonny Campbell (Netflix’s Dracula). Zombieland’s Gavin Polone produces.

A woman navigates the complex journey of motherhood while confronting her deepest fears and anxieties in Mother’s Baby, now available on VOD in the U.S. from Dark Sky Films.
