Indie horror stalwart Charles Band is teaming with some of microdrama’s biggest names to form the vertical video label Full Moon Artists (FMA) Productions, Deadline reports.
Band’s Full Moon Features will house the microdrama producer, which he will lead alongside vertical entertainment stars Eric Guilmette, Sarah Moliski, Felix Merback, and Rebecca Stoughton.
FMA Productions is planning a slate of 12 multi-episode microdrama series for ReelShort and other vertical video apps, which will later be released as standard ratio features on Prime Video and Tubi.
The shingle’s first production is slated to shoot this spring in Los Angeles, with subsequent titles to be filmed in California, Cleveland, and Italy.
“As a veteran pioneer in new media, from home video to streaming, I am extremely enthusiastic about the possibilities and potential in the vertical microdrama arena,” said Band.
“Working alongside this team, all of whom are among the biggest names in their field, to form this new venture has been both exciting and eye opening. These creatives are on the cutting edge of the vertical world, and we have big plans to develop some truly incredible entertainments for some of the most relevant vertical platforms out there, while also making innovative inroads into the independent feature film markets.”
After dipping his toe into the vertical video space last year with the thriller Dungeons of Ecstasy, Band is reteaming with ReelShort for the release of Models vs. Werewolves.
The film follows five young models to an Airbnb in the woods for a full moon that comes once every 500 years. What starts off as the perfect girl’s trip quickly becomes a nightmare as a pack of ancient werewolves are awoken by the new moon.
Directed by Danny Draven, Models vs. Werewolves stars Moliski, Stouhgton, Hannah Hueston, Bella Mraz, Alexa Reddy, Sophie Swiszcz, and genre legend Dee Wallace.
Band has had a hand in several hundred low-budget movies over the course of his 50+ year career, including such cult classics as Re-Animator, From Beyond, Tourist Trap, Puppet Master, Intruder, Troll, and Ghoulies.
