Hailey Benton Gates (The Moment, “Twin Peaks: The Return”) has joined the cast of the as-yet-untitled horror movie from director Takashi Miike (Audition, Ichi the Killer), Deadline has learned.
Pop sensation Charli XCX (Faces of Death) stars alongside Milly Alcock (Supergirl), Norman Reedus (“The Walking Dead”), Sho Kasamatsu (“Tokyo Vice”), and Kiko Mizuhara (Attack on Titan).
Currently in production in Japan, the film is written by Ross Evans and Yumiko Aoyagi, based on an original idea by Charli and Miike.
It follows three best friends who reunite in Kyoto to rekindle their lifelong friendship during what is intended to be a carefree girls trip. The getaway spirals into terror when Katie (Charli) becomes possessed by a violent, tortured spirit (Mizuhara), unleashing a nightmare steeped in Japanese horror tradition.
The Moment director Aidan Zamiri has boarded the project as a producer. Charli is also producing under her Studio365 banner alongside Good World Productions, Yumiko Aoyagi Productions, OLM, and Live Nation Studios.
