One of the big horror movies we’re excited for in Spring 2026 is Evil Dead Rise writer-director Lee Cronin‘s The Mummy, releasing in theaters on April 17 from Warner Bros.
You like blood? Violence? Freaks of nature? Lee Cronin’s The Mummy has received an “R” rating for “Strong disturbing violent content, gore, language and brief drug use.”
In Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, a journalist’s young daughter disappears into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.
Jack Reynor (Midsommar), Laia Costa (“The Wheel of Time”), May Calamawy (“Moon Knight”), Natalie Grace (“1923”), and Veronica Falcón (“Ozark”) lead the cast.
From Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and New Line Cinema, the film is produced by horror master James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville. Lee Cronin executive produces.
“This is a very different kind of Mummy movie,” Cronin promises. “It’s an insane mashup to suggest, but [the film is] almost one part Poltergeist and one part Se7en.”

The rich history of Mummy movies released over the years includes the Boris Karloff-starring Universal Monsters classic from 1932, as well as films including Bubba Ho-Tep starring Bruce Campbell, horror-comedy Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy in 1955, Hammer’s The Mummy in 1959 starring Christopher Lee, and 2014 found footage film The Pyramid.
