Acclaimed writer-director Julia Ducournau (Raw, Titane) is back with Alpha, in theaters today from Neon.
Although more drama than genre, the body horror elements of Ducournau’s previous work bleeds into the new clip below.
The film follows Alpha, a troubled 13-year-old who lives with her single mom. Their world collapses the day she returns from school with a tattoo on her arm.
Tahar Rahim (Madame Web), Golshifteh Farahani (Extraction), and Mélissa Boros star with Emma Mackey (Death on the Nile), Finnegan Oldfield (Infested), and Louai El Amrousy.
The film premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, earning Ducournau her second Palme d’Or nomination. Titane took home the prestigious award back in 2021.
Alpha is rated R for “drug content, sexual material, language, and some underage drinking.”
