Serial Killer Horror-Comedy ‘Frankie, Maniac Woman’ Hits Theaters in April
Beauty is only skin deep — and Frankie, Maniac Woman wants to see what’s inside.
Balancing gory violence, dark humor, and social commentary, the serial killer slasher will be released in select theaters on April 24.
Battling against the legacy of childhood trauma, internalized misogyny, and the image-obsessed fat shaming of the LA music business, aspiring singer-songwriter Frankie Ramirez finally snaps — with bloody results.
Pierre Tsigaridis (Two Witches, Traumatika) directs from a script he co-wrote with Two Witches actress Dina Silva.
Silva also stars alongside Stefanie Estes (Soft and Quiet), Tim Fox (Two Witches), Jordan Debarge (“Squid Game: The Challenge”), Rocío de la Grana, Daniella Mendoza, and Tsigaridis.
“With Frankie, Maniac Woman, we set out to create a serial killer story that is chaotic and intimate, violent and vulnerable — a slasher with a soul,” said Tsigaridis. “I wanted to make the kind of slasher that feels dangerous again, where comedy and brutality live in the same breath.
“At its core, the film is a raw, unapologetic exploration of what happens when someone is pushed past their breaking point, using Frankie’s descent as both a character study and a reflection of the pressures we put on women in image-driven industries.”
“Frankie’s story speaks to the pressure women face to fit impossible standards,” Silva adds. “She is the most personal character I’ve ever played—she represents every version of myself that felt unseen, judged, or pushed aside.
“As a comedic actor, it was really exciting to explore how humor and darkness can coexist, and to bring that duality into the character. Telling her story was both cathartic and terrifying. I didn’t want to hold anything back, and I hope audiences feel that authenticity and intensity.”
Frankie, Maniac Woman premiered at last year’s Grimmfest, where Silva won Best Actress.

‘Hold the Fort’ Trailer Pits New Homeowners Against an Onslaught of Monsters
Sunrise Films has announced the official North American release of William Bagley‘s horror comedy Hold the Fort, and it’s accompanied by an energetic new trailer.
Hold the Fort debuts on digital platforms on June 23.
In the film, “Lucas and Jenny think their life is finally coming together when the couple become homeowners. Little do they know that their new house comes with a big catch. Lucas and Jenny soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when they become trapped in a battle between their Homeowners Association and an onslaught of monsters from hell. The horror-comedy takes the timely concern of home-ownership and wraps this up in an entertaining action-packed thrill ride.“
Watch the new trailer below, which introduces one wild HOA gathering during an equinox. Things get bloody fast.
Chris Mayers (Adult Swim Yule Log), Haley Leary (“The Walking Dead”), Levi Burdick, and Julian Smith star.
William Bagley writes and directs, in addition to producing with Smith, Matt Dodd, Luke Williams, and Tim Reis (Adult Swim Yule Log).
Ahead of the release, Bagley said, “My goal with this film was to make a hilarious, fast-paced thrill ride while also telling a great story with heart. Hopefully, through all the blood, laughs, fights, and gags, you leave the film feeling inspired to tackle whatever life throws at you.“
Hold the Fort premiered at Fantasia last summer before going on to play FrightFest London, Toronto After Dark, and Beyond Fest.
I wrote in my review, “It’s an infectiously charming assemblage of jokes and monster vignettes bound together by a barebones plot with not much on its mind beyond delivering an entertaining time.”
