Per usual, the plot of Osgood Perkins‘ latest nightmare, The Young People, remains under wraps, but Lola Tung is the first to publicly discuss the production.
“It was like a crazy, weird, awesome experience,” Tung tells Variety.
The actress confirms The Young People is a pure horror film, not a horror-comedy like Perkins’ The Monkey.
“I got a little scared on set a couple times, actually, which has never really happened to me,” Tung admits.
Speaking of her co-stars, Tung says, “Nicole [Kidman], I mean, obviously, what a force and icon. And Nico Parker and Lily Collias, I adore them so much. They’re incredible.
“We really bonded very, very fast — which, again, it was so cool to have a cast of women that we just clicked very immediately. It was an insane cast.”
That cast also includes Brendan Hines, Cush Jumbo, Heather Graham, Johnny Knoxville, Lexi Minetree, and Tatiana Maslany.
The Young People is due out later this year via Neon.
Tung can currently be seen alongside Lili Reinhart, Victoria Pedretti, and Alexandra Shipp in the horror-comedy Forbidden Fruits, in theaters today.
It follows Free Eden employee Apple, who secretly runs a witchy femme cult in the basement of the mall store after hours with fellow fruits Cherry and Fig. But when new hire Pumpkin challenges their performative sisterhood, the women are forced to face their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate.
