Charlie Day “Would Be Thrilled” to Make a ‘Luigi’s Mansion’ Movie

Following the record-breaking success of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Nintendo and Illumination are expanding the animated world with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, in theaters this week.

With the door opened for exploring different corners of the video game franchise, Luigi voice actor Charlie Day says he’d be on board for a Luigi’s Mansion movie.

“I would be thrilled to do Luigi’s Mansion, just because it’s such a fun game. And not that you would make it like a horror movie for kids, but it could have some more sort of jump scares in it, which would be fun,” Day tells Screen Rant.

“It does seem like it would make a great movie,” Day adds. “If they do it, I’m in.”

Luigi’s Mansion was a launch title for the GameCube back in 2001. In it, Luigi receives a letter informing him he has won a mansion as the grand prize in a contest he never entered. When he arrives, Luigi discovers that the mansion is haunted by ghosts and Mario is trapped inside.

It was followed by 2013’s Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for the Nintendo 3DS and 2019’s Luigi’s Mansion 3 for the Nintendo Switch. A remake of Luigi’s Mansion was released for the 3DS in 2018.
