Universal Studios has taken a unique approach to the first official piece of marketing for the upcoming fourth installment of the action-horror franchise The Mummy, sharing a photo of returning star Brendan Fraser on Universal Studios Hollywood’s Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride, which is of course based on the ’90s film franchise led by Fraser.
Brendan Fraser is pictured in the front row of the ride alongside Radio Silence filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, who will be directing The Mummy 4. Universal captions the photo, “Getting back into character! Brendan Fraser had a blast braving Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride at Universal Studios in preparation for reprising the role of Rick O’Connell.”

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will both be reprising their iconic roles as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell in the untitled upcoming movie, with John Hannah also returning.
The Mummy 4 will release in theaters May 19, 2028 from Universal.
Plot details are being kept under wraps at this time, but the brand new sequel is expected to disregard the events of the third movie, in which Rachel Weisz did not appear.
“It’s just really beautiful and scary and sweeping, and it’s awesome,” Gillet teases. Bettinelli-Olpin adds that the film “has all of the heart and the character that you could hope for.”
A remake of the classic Universal monster movie that took an action-adventure approach, The Mummy was released in 1999 and grossed $417 million worldwide. It was followed by The Mummy Returns in 2001 and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008.
The franchise led by Brendan Fraser has nothing whatsoever to do with Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, in theaters April 17. And no, Brendan Fraser is not in Lee Cronin’s The Mummy.
