Nicolas Winding Refn is heading to the Cannes Film Festival to premiere Her Private Hell.
In celebration of the news, the first official image of Sophie Thatcher (“Yellowjackets”) from the film has been revealed.
The Tokyo-shot thriller is said to follow a woman searching for her father as a strange mist engulfs their city and unleashes an elusive, deadly presence.
Charles Melton (“Riverdale”), Kristine Froseth (How to Blow Up a Pipeline), and Havana Rose Liu (No Exit) also star.
Dougray Scott (Hitman), Diego Calva (Babylon), Aoi Yamada (Perfect Days), Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool & Wolverine), and Hidetoshi Nishijima (Shin Ultraman) round out the cast.
Refn directs from a script he co-wrote with Esti Giordani (“Vida”). Pino Donaggio (Carrie, Don’t Look Now) composed the score.
Refn produces under his byNWR Originals banner. Executive producers include Takuma Takasaki, Kimberly Willming, Christina Erritzøe, and Lene Børglum.
Her Private Hell is expected to be released later this year via Neon.
Refn is next attached to the Maniac Cop remake, which is aiming to shoot in the fall.
