This week kicked off with seven brand new horror movies releasing at home, and another six have now arrived both in theaters and at home. It’s the biggest new release day for horror in the month of April, in fact, with highly anticipated films including Exit 8, the new Faces of Death, and the found footage movie Hunting Matthew Nichols all arriving in theaters today.
But that’s just the beginning…

Exit 8 – Now Playing in Theaters
Based on the popular video game created by Kotake Create, NEON’s Exit 8 follows a man trapped in an endless sterile subway passageway as he sets out to find Exit 8.
Exit 8 is now playing only in theaters.
The rules of his quest are simple: do not overlook anything out of the ordinary. If you discover an anomaly, turn back immediately. If you don’t, carry on. Then leave from Exit 8.
But even a single oversight will send him back to the beginning. Will he ever reach his goal and escape this infinite corridor?
Kawamura Genki directs Exit 8 from a script he co-wrote with Kentaro Hirase.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her review, “The true magic of Exit 8 lies with its impressive ability to recreate the feeling of playing a game, as you find yourself scouring the walls, floors, and ceilings of a cosmic backroom hallway to assist the Lost Man in his search for anomalies.”
Faces of Death – Now Playing in Theaters
The infamous Faces of Death tapes are back in brand new movie Faces of Death, which revives the cult classic 1970s faux documentary with a fresh meta take on the disturbing material.
Faces of Death is now playing in theaters from IFC and Shudder.
Continuing the exploration of the original film’s ‘Is it real or not?’ conceit, the reboot follows a woman working as a content moderator for a video platform who discovers what appears to be re-enactments of murders from Faces of Death. In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction or unfolding in real time.
Barbie Ferreira (“Euphoria”), Dacre Montgomery (“Stranger Things”), Josie Totah (“Saved by the Bell”), Aaron Holliday (Cocaine Bear), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), and pop superstar Charli XCX star in director Daniel Goldhaber’s (Cam) remake.
Hunting Matthew Nichols – Now Playing in Theaters
Found footage finds itself back up on the big screen in director Markian Tarasiuk’s Hunting Matthew Nichols, and the indie horror movie is now playing only in theaters.
On Halloween 2001, Matthew Nichols and Jordan Reimer went into the forests of northern Vancouver Island near Port Rupert with a VHS camcorder — and vanished without a trace. Their camera was later recovered, but the boys were never found. Two decades later, Matthew’s sister, Tara, has hired a film crew to document her search for answers.

Thrash – Now Streaming on Netflix
Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola’s (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Dead Snow, Violent Night) shark attack movie Thrash is now streaming only on Netflix.
In Thrash, “When a Category 5 hurricane decimates a coastal town, the storm surge brings devastation, chaos…and something far more frightening: hungry sharks.”

The Yeti – Now Available on Digital
A throwback to the golden age of monster movies, Well Go USA unleashed The Yeti in select AMC theaters last week, and the film is now available on Digital outlets at home.
Set in the remote wilds of northern Alaska, a famed adventurer and an oil tycoon vanish without a trace in The Yeti. Their children set out on a desperate rescue mission only to discover that something far older and more dangerous than the Arctic itself has awakened.

From Hardscrabble Film Company, Torfoot Entertainment Group and Radiant Films, the monster movie is written and directed by William Pisciotta and Gene Gallerano.
The Caretaker – Now Streaming on Tubi
A live-in aide will stop at nothing to become the man of the house in The Caretaker, the latest Tubi Original psychological thriller. The film is now streaming only on Tubi.
After a car accident leaves Miles paralyzed, his wife brings in a live-in caretaker to support them. At first, he seems like the perfect solution. But soon his presence becomes unsettling. Boundaries blur, control shifts, and what began as care turns into something dangerous. As the tension builds, one question remains — who is really in charge of the house?
Brandon Villano directs Tubi Original The Caretaker from a script by Geoffrey D. Calhoun. The pair previously collaborated on Lifetime’s The Past Comes Knocking.
