“House of Ninjas” creator Dave Boyle has been tapped to direct an as-yet-untitled genre film for Paramount Pictures, Deadline reports.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the project is described as “sci-fi-inflected horror.”
Boyle is also rewriting the screenplay, which was originally penned by Natalie Conway & Peter Stanley-Ward (Play Dead).
Walter Hamada will produce via 18Hz (Primate, Passenger) as part of his discretionary fund relating to his overall Paramount deal. 18Hz’s Nick Romano will executive produce.
Boyle’s latest feature, the Japanese-language horror film Never After Dark, premiered at SXSW last month and took home the Audience Award in the Midnighter section.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her Never After Dark review, “Boyle presents a fascinating character study at the heart of his midnight chiller, an intriguing antisocial protagonist far more comfortable with ghosts than people.”
