99 Nights in the Forest, one of Roblox‘s most popular games, is being developed into a feature film at 20th Century Studios.
Variety reports that the studio secured the theatrical film rights to the title, developed by Grandma’s Favourite Games, in a highly competitive bid.
There is no writer or director attached at this time. The game’s developers, Alec Kieft, Matthew Hufton, and Cameron Angland, will serve as executive producers, with J.R. Young overseeing the project on behalf of the studio.
In the action-survival game, players must build a camp in a haunted forest to rescue four missing children while fending off a monstrous deer, its cultists, and other killer beasts.
Since its launch last May, 99 Nights in the Forest has become the seventh most-played Roblox game of all time, with nearly 26 billion lifetime visits and an all-time peak player count of 14.2 million.
“Growing up, Disney and 20th films were a huge part of our childhood, so collaborating with such legendary and enduring studios feels surreal,” Kieft, Hufton, and Angland stated. “We’re excited to explore the world of 99 Nights in the Forest on a broader stage and to create some scares in an entirely new medium.”

Founded in 2020, the New Zealand-based Grandma’s Favourite Games is responsible for some of Roblox’s most popular games. The game development community now boasts more than 10 million members.
