Announced last May, writer-director Alex Garland (Annihilation, Ex Machina) is gearing up to enter production on Elden Ring.
The live-action feature is based on FromSoftware’s 2022 fantasy action role-playing game written by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin.
Kit Connor (“Heartstopper”), Cailee Spaeny (Alien: Romulus), and Ben Whishaw (Skyfall) are set to star, with Nick Offerman (“Parks and Recreation”) rumored to be joining the cast.
Screen Global Production reports that filming is set to take place on location across the UK, including Scotland.
Plot details remain under wraps, but the game is set in the shattered Lands Between, where a banished warrior returns to seek the fragments of the Elden Ring, confront rival demigods, and journey toward becoming Elden Lord.
A24 is producing alongside video game publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment and DNA Films (28 Days Later, Ex Machina).
Producers include Martin, Vince Gerardis (“Game of Thrones”), Peter Rice (28 Years Later), and Andrew Macdonald & Allon Reich of DNA.
Stay tuned for more details on Elden Ring as production draws nearer.
