From Longlegs and The Monkey producers Range Media Partners, Hide and Don’t Speak is now in production in Northern Ireland, Variety reports.
Loosely based on the real-life internet game hitori kakurenbo, the supernatural horror film follows six teenagers who play a terrifying viral Japanese game in which the players summon a vengeful spirit for a deadly round of hide-and-seek.
Tanner Buchanan (“Cobra Kai”), Garrett Wareing (The Long Walk), Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild), Momona Tamada (“Avatar: The Last Airbender“), Kaitlyn Kemp (Street Smart), and John Hewson (son of U2 frontman Bono) star.
Alexander J. Farrell (The Beast Within) directs from a script he co-wrote with Greer Ellison (The Beast Within).
Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Longlegs), Fred Berger (Longlegs), Noah Reich, Matt Coatsworth, and Wildcard’s Patrick O’Neill (The Hole in the Ground) are producing.
Stacy Kemp Ferrari; Jessie Hickman & Nick Potts of HiPo Productions; Gavin Kilduff & Cameron Lawther of Nina Pictures; Michael Bassick & Michael Laundon of M2 Media Post; and David Gendron, Ali Jazayeri, & Keith Kehoe of TPC serve as executive producers.
Hide and Don’t Speak will launch sales at the Cannes film market next month. Mister Smith Entertainment is handling international sales, while UTA and Range Select co-rep US rights.
