Damian McCarthy has carved out a name for himself with a series of freaky little horror movies that have wormed their way into the nightmares of horror fans, with Hokum representing the filmmaker’s most high profile release to date. But what’s next from Damian McCarthy, post-Hokum? The filmmaker reveals in a new interview with Polygon this week that he’s currently writing another original horror movie.
“I definitely want to make one more out-and-out horror film just to see if I can take everything I’ve learned and apply it,” McCarthy tells the outlet.
“Something’s kind of clicked with me now,” he continues. “If I was to do it again, I’d put everything into it, and then I think I’d move on.”
The Irish filmmaker has even revealed the sub-genre of his next horror movie.
“It’s self-contained, almost like a classic haunted house movie,” McCarthy teases. “Somebody just cannot leave a property. I think there’s something really fun about that.”
