Will Forte (“Saturday Night Live”) and Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) are set to star alongside Eric André in Synergy Systems, Deadline reports.
Screenwriter Toby Harvard (The Greasy Strangler, Come to Daddy) will make his feature directorial debut on the film, billed as “a punk, action-charged, near-future thriller.”
André stars as terminally indecisive data analyst Bemis, who uncovers that his employer, Synergy Systems, is a front for an apocalyptic doomsday plot. He’s then forced to do the unthinkable: step up as humanity’s last line of defense.
The catch? He’s spineless, spectacularly unqualified, and wildly unprepared to save the world.
Steven Demmler of Talon Entertainment, Dane Eckerle of Bad Grey, and Iconoclast (Spring Breakers) will produce, with Talon’s Anthony F. Panza serving as executive producer.
“When I read Toby Harvard’s wonderfully insane screenplay and imagined Will Forte as ‘Narcissus’ and Tiffany Haddish as ‘RealTalk,’ I laughed so hard I peed. Just a little…a lot of times,” said Demmler. “That is cinema.”
Synergy Systems is launching sales at next week’s Cannes film market from Cinetic Media and WME Independent.
