Robert Lorenz (Trouble with the Curve, In the Land of Saints and Sinners) is attached to direct Hardcourt from writer Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, Twisters), Deadline reports.
The psychological thriller is said to be in the vein of Gone Girl and Basic Instinct.
It follows a respected college basketball coach who is accused of murdering his mistress. When his wife hires one of his former players and her ex-lover — now a top attorney — to defend her husband, old rivalries and resentments surface on the path to get to the bottom of the crime.
Ehud Bleiberg, Ariel Bleiberg, & Robert Deege will produce via Bleiberg Entertainment (The Iceman, Dance of the Dead) alongside Suzanne Lyons of Snowfall Films (Most Likely to Die).
Hardcourt is set to enter production in early 2027. Bleiberg is handling worldwide sales rights and presenting the project at this week’s Cannes film market.
