A fan film made by elementary school students, Ghostbusters: Half-Life reimagines the Ghostbusters universe through the perspective of a younger generation of paranormal investigators.
You can watch the 27-minute fan film below.
Set in 1994, the story follows adolescent Ghostbusters on a road trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to shut a mysterious box that’s attracting ghosts from everywhere and threatening the town.
William Atherton, who plays Walter Peck in the Ghostbusters franchise, makes a cameo as an all-new character created for the project.
Ghostbusters: Half-Life is directed by music educator and composer Kevin Croxton, who shepherded over 60 students from Oliver Springs Elementary in Van Buren, Arkansas.
“Everyone had a wonderful experience making the film. It taught the children about the process of filmmaking from pre-production to release,” Croxton said of the two-year process.
This is not Croxton’s first student-led tribute film — previous works include Indiana Jones and the Treasure of the Aztecs and Batman: The Scheme Is Sound — but it is be his most ambitious.
A new Ghostbusters animated series is set to premiere on Netflix in 2027.
