‘Passenger’ Gas Station Marketing Warns Drivers to Stay Off the Roads at Night

The mythology behind André Øvredal’s Passenger has been teased in the past several weeks by the film’s in-world marketing campaign, the centerpiece of which is the website Don’t Drive at Night. It’s the main hub for all things Passenger, and on there you can listen to a built-in radio, download a Haunted Highways of America guide, and grab your tickets now.

What is Passenger about, you ask? It’s a supernatural road trip horror movie from Paramount, chronicling the terrifying experiences of a couple on a van life adventure. After witnessing a horrific road accident that leaves a fellow driver dead, they find themselves being pursued by a demonic stalker who’s impossible to outrun… and follows them wherever they go.

The mythology of Passenger and its demonic stalker is of course fleshed out in the movie itself, but that mythology has also been spilling out into the real world in recent days…

One of the coolest bits of marketing for the film has seen advertisements cleverly placed at gas station pumps across the U.S., warning drivers to stay off the roads at night. The only thing freakier than the ads are the prices at the pump these days, but let’s not get too far off topic.

The gas station ads direct drivers to the Don’t Drive at Night website, where you can listen to an official Spotify playlist and download the aforementioned Haunted Highways of America guide. The guide is featured in the movie itself, and browsing through it is your best chance at experiencing the world of Passenger before the film releases in theaters later this month.

Step inside the world of Passenger by downloading Haunted Highways of America.

And whatever you do… don’t drive at night…
