Teen Body Horror Comedy ‘Slanted’ Now Streaming on Paramount+

Slanted streaming now

Body horror meets teen comedy in Amy Wang’s provocative debut, Slanted, and it’s now available to stream at home.

Slanted arrives exclusively on Paramount+ today, May 15.

The coming-of-age satire follows “a Chinese-American teen willing to go to shocking lengths to become prom queen — offering a razor-sharp take on identity, belonging and the price of chasing perfection.”

The film stars:

  • Shirley Chen (Beast Beast, Dìdi) as Joan Huang
  • McKenna Grace (Scream 7, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2) as Joan’s caucasian alter ego, Jo Hunt
  • Vivian Wu (The Joy Luck ClubAwayThe Afterparty)
  • Fang Du (The Haves and the Have NotsMadam Secretary)
  • Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I EverFreakier Friday)
  • Amelie Zilber (Emily in ParisGrown-ish)

Writer/Director Amy Wang’s feature debut premiered at last year’s SXSW and took home the Narrative Grand Jury Award.

“As an immigrant, I’ve always been aware that I looked different. Slanted examines the cost of chasing acceptance, and what it means to abandon yourself in the process. Is belonging worth losing who you are for a system that was never built to value you? I can’t wait for Slanted to debut on Paramount+ and reach millions of people across America,” said Wang.

Slanted is rated R for “

McKenna Grace is keeping very busy in the genre space. Grace can next be seen in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, out November 20. She’s also now in production on Netflix’s “Scooby-Doo” series as Daphne.
