Giovanni Frezza, who played the notorious Bob in Lucio Fulci’s The House by the Cemetery and last appeared in Lamberto Bava’s Demons, is returning to the screen for the first time in over 40 years.
Fangoria has learned that Frezza will appear in the satirical meta slasher Run! Check out Marc Schoenbach‘s poster art below.
The film “follows Run, the first-ever masked slasher, through the eras of his career — from the gritty ’70s homestead killings to the neon-soaked, merchandising-heavy ’80s, and into the quippy, self-aware ’90s.
“Follow the life of a pioneering masked slasher who has become a relic of the past. As the style of horror shifts in pop culture, Run decides that you might not be able to teach an old dog new tricks, but that there might be more than one way to skin a cat! Hopefully metaphorically…”
The cast is also set to include Andrew Thorp, Timmy Hart Barron, Gary Kroeger (“Saturday Night Live”), Sean Stewart, NWA wrestler Marti Belle, Larkan Danielle, Aaron Williams, Nick Graystone (The Forest Hills), and Marianna Barksdale.
Ricky Glore (Sweet Meats) directs from a script he co-wrote with Eric M. Hunter and Gage Dailey. NKY Films and Mediatrix Films produce.
Fangoria notes, “Frezza never regretted his choice to leave screen acting behind, instead graduating with a degree in physics that eventually led to an international career working in technology.
“But he’s also remained connected with the fan base surrounding his childhood work, and returns now to the screen in an undisclosed role for a meta look at how the fandom around slashers has evolved through the years, bringing with him a perspective shaped by decades of life experience beyond the film industry.”
Currently raising funds on Seed&Spark, Run! is set to enter production in September for a late 2027 or early 2028 release.
