‘Stream 2: Sudden Death’ – Tim Curry Will Return in an Expanded Role
After making a cameo appearance in the slasher movie Stream, the team has announced that acting legend Tim Curry will be back for a larger role in sequel Stream 2: Sudden Death.
The news was first announced by Variety this afternoon.
The filmmaking team previews in a press release, “Tim Curry, whose appearance in the original film helped establish the broader mythology of the series, is set to play a more integral role in the sequel as the filmmakers expand the world introduced in Stream.”
“Tim Curry is someone who has inspired generations of horror fans and filmmakers alike,” said director Michael Leavy. “From the beginning, we envisioned his character as part of a much larger story within the Stream universe. The first film only scratched the surface, and we’re excited to bring him back in a bigger role that audiences will really respond to.”
“Having the opportunity to work with Tim Curry was already surreal, but knowing where this story was headed made it even more special,” added producer Jason Leavy. “His appearance in the original film was designed to plant the seeds for something bigger, and Stream 2: Sudden Death finally allows us to start pulling back the curtain on a much larger scale.”
The project marks the next installment in the growing Stream universe from Fuzz on the Lens Productions, the team behind Terrifier 2, Terrifier 3, Screamboat, and Stream.
The screenplay, which is now complete, was written by “Impractical Jokers” star Brian “Q” Quinn and longtime “Impractical Jokers” producer Joe Imburgio.
Returning cast members include David Howard Thornton (Terrifier, Screamboat), reprising his role as Player 2, and Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night, Black Eyed Susan).
The sequel will also feature the return of original Art the Clown actor Mike Giannelli (All Hallows’ Eve). Stream 2: Sudden Death builds on the foundation of the first installment and raises the stakes with more elaborate, creative kills, a deeper exploration of its dark web world, and the same practical-effects-driven approach that defines the Terrifier franchise.
The original slasher movie Stream is currently available for free streaming on Tubi and Amazon Prime Video, or on DVD and Blu-ray physical media, as well as other major platforms.
Brendan Fraser is back for the upcoming fourth installment in The Mummy franchise from directors Radio Silence, and Michael Johnston (Obsession) is now in talks to join him.
The Hollywood Reporter lets us know tonight that Michael Johnston is in “early talks” to join The Mummy 4, which will release in theaters on October 15, 2027 via Universal.
Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and John Hannah will reprise their iconic roles as Rick O’Connell, Evelyn O’Connell, and Jonathan Carnahan in the upcoming movie.
Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not, Scream 5-6) are directing from a script by David Coggeshall (Orphan: First Kill).
Plot details are being kept under wraps at this time, but the brand new sequel is expected to disregard the events of the third movie, in which Rachel Weisz did not appear.
“It’s just really beautiful and scary and sweeping, and it’s awesome,” Gillet teases. Bettinelli-Olpin adds that the film “has all of the heart and the character that you could hope for.”
A remake of the classic Universal monster movie that took an action-adventure approach, The Mummy was released in 1999 and grossed $417 million worldwide. It was followed by The Mummy Returns in 2001 and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008.
