At 76 years old, Academy Award nominee Brad Dourif may be largely retired from acting, but he’s made one promise to horror fans: he’ll always come back to voice killer doll Chucky.
Brad Dourif played Charles Lee Ray in the flesh in the original Child’s Play and also voiced the iconic doll that houses the human serial killer’s evil spirit, a role he has continued to play throughout the franchise. Outside of the 2019 Child’s Play remake featuring Mark Hamill as Chucky, every other Chucky appearance in film and television has been voiced by Dourif.
And Dourif doesn’t plan on giving the character to anyone else anytime soon. He told the crowd at Spooky Empire in Orlando this past weekend, in fact, “Nobody’s doing Chucky but me.”
Does this mean Brad Dourif will be back to voice Chucky (at least) one more time in the brand new Chucky movie in the works from writer/director Don Mancini? It sure sounds like it!
As we told you back in April, Mancini is aiming to make Chucky scary again in the brand new Chucky movie that will finally bring the (original) killer doll back to the big screen.
Don Mancini’s plan is to return the franchise to the tone of Curse of Chucky as well as the first two original Child’s Play movies, once again dialing back the comedy and hijinks.
Brad Dourif voiced Chucky in all of the original Child’s Play movies as well as more recent installments Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky, and all three seasons of the TV series.
