A deadly virus is killing the rich en masse in the new trailer for Rich Flu, the latest thriller from The Platform director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia.
According to a press release, Vertical releases Rich Flu this Friday, June 5, though it appears to be available on Digital now.
“As Laura’s career peaks, a deadly virus targets the rich. As panic erupts and society turns on the 1%, she must fight to protect her family in a world where wealth becomes a death sentence.”
Mary Elizabeth Winstead (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, 10 Cloverfield Lane) stars as Laura, whose life is completely upended by the virus and the realization that survival may require giving up her wealth in the new trailer below that gives a new spin on “eat the rich.”
Rafe Spall, Lorraine Bracco, Dixie Egerickx, César Domboy, Jonah Hauer-King, and Timothy Spall also star.
Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia also co-writes the thriller, along with writers Pedro Riverto Aurre, Sam Steiner, and David Desola, based on an idea by David Desola and Gaztelu-Urrutia.
The director appears to be continuing his streak of intense genre thrillers exploring class divides, beginning with Netflix breakout The Platform and continuing in its 2024 sequel.
Producers on Rich Flu include Adrián Guerra, Albert Soler Cuyás, Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, Juan de Dios Larraín, Pablo Larraín, Carlos Juárez, and Núria Valls.
