Writer/Director Jason Lei Howden is getting the band back together in sequel Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon, and the heavy metal horror sequel finally has set a release date.
Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon will debut a one-night-only theatrical event screening on Tuesday, September 29, at select Alamo Drafthouse theaters nationwide as part of the venue’s Fantastic Fest Presents program, Screen Anarchy reports.
Then look for the sequel to hit Digital on October 13, with a Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD physical release to follow later in the month via Raven Banner.
Tickets and showtimes will be available at www.deathgasm2.com, with potential additional cities to be announced.
Milo Cawthorne is back as unwitting hero Brodie, who’s had a rough go since thwarting a heavy metal apocalypse in the last film.
In the sequel, “A few years after surviving the last demon apocalypse, Brodie is washed-up, broke, and stuck in small-town purgatory. But when he learns that NoizeQuest, a battle-of-the-bands competition, is coming to his town, he sees a shot at redemption – and maybe even a second chance with Medina. One problem: his drummer is missing an arm, and the rest of his band is, well… dead. Luckily, Brodie still has the pages of The Black Hymn, so raising his bandmates from the great beyond is just a riff away. But with every chord comes blood, guts, and the kind of apocalyptic chaos only Deathgasm can unleash..”
Also back are Kimberley Crossman as Medina, James Joshua Blake as Zakk, Sam Berkley, and Daniel Cresswell. The sequel also introduces us to new characters played by Kieran Charnock, Harrison Keefe, and Maggie Nicole Robertson.
Metal musician Matthew Kiichi Heafy, of Grammy-nominated metal band Trivium, composed the film’s original score. The soundtrack features Skinless, Havok, Chestcrush, Bulletbelt, Anvil, GWAR and more.
Howden said, “We made this film for the misfits, the freaks, the outcasts, the headbangers, and the gorehounds. In a world divided, heavy metal and horror fans are an international family united by our passion for extreme entertainment.Deathgasm 2 is one big, brutal ‘HORNS UP’ to that family. I’m stoked Raven Banner is getting it out there for the world to enjoy.”
