‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ – Behind the Scenes Video Previews First Japanese Movie Filmed for IMAX

The King of the Monsters is headed back to theaters this November, and Toho is taking Godzilla fans behind the scenes for a fresh new sneak peek at Godzilla Minus Zero this week.

The upcoming Godzilla Minus Zero is the first Japanese production filmed for IMAX, and the official behind the scenes video gives us a taste of the size and scale of this Kaiju spectacle.

Director Takashi Yamazaki says to his team in the video, “I believe this team can create something greater than [Godzilla Minus One].” A very high bar to clear, to say the very least.

Godzilla Minus Zero hits theaters in North America on November 6, 2026 via GKIDS.

Godzilla Minus One stars Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe will both be reprising their roles in Godzilla Minus Zero, with Takashi Yamazaki back in the director’s chair.

The film is set in 1949 — two years after the events of its predecessor.

Here’s the new official synopsis: “War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus. Two years have passed since then, and the country has faced agonizing struggles to achieve recovery and finally reclaim its daily life. Just as humanity managed to cling to a hard-won peace, a new threat strikes, crushing hope in an instant.

“There is no third time. Everything ends here.”
