A24 dropped a mysterious and unexpected teaser for an upcoming horror movie ahead of Resident Evil in theaters this weekend, loaded with what looks like security camera footage from inside a terrifying haunted attraction. “A24 invites you,” the teaser trailer explains, “to an experience you’ll never forget.” The title of this mysterious horror movie? Slayground.
While the footage is only playing in theaters and hasn’t yet made its way online, the teaser does end with a website URL that takes us further into the world of Slayground: RunLikeHell.com.
So what is Slayground, you ask? Well, it turns out this is Jeremy Saulnier’s (Green Room, Rebel Ridge) new horror movie for A24, which previously had a much different title: October.
Described as a Halloween-set fugitive thriller, the newly titled Slayground stars Imogen Poots (Green Room), James Badge Dale (The Empty Man), Matty Matheson (“The Bear”), Cory Michael Smith (Saturday Night), Chase Sui Wonders (I Know What You Did Last Summer), Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me), Young Mazino (“The Last of Us”), and Stephen Root (“Widow’s Bay”).
World of Reel provides a bit more information about the upcoming movie. They detail, “Slayground takes its title from the haunted attraction where the lead character works.” The outlet dives in further, “the plot follows Cory Michael Smith’s character, the primary suspect in a mass murder investigation, after he escapes police custody. He goes on the run, attempting to prove his innocence while becoming the target of a massive manhunt.”
