Hulu‘s “Huluween” is back this year to celebrate the spooky season, and part of that lineup includes the clown-scare documentary Clown Panic.
Deadline has debuted the first trailer, which shows a community terrorized by sightings of creepy clowns.
Clown Panic premieres on Hulu on October 12. Internationally, it will stream on Disney+.
The doc tracks a strange trend that started in 2016, as reports of clowns hiding in the woods in a small South Carolina community quickly escalated, with sightings reported across the country. As clown panic took hold, law enforcement got involved; there were school lockdowns, and TV news and social media went into overdrive.
The doc features interviews with witnesses, law enforcement, clowns, and cultural commentators and unpacks how a bizarre urban legend could spiral into a national moral panic.
