Jane Schoenbrun’s (I Saw the TV Glow) new movie Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is now available on Digital with a brand new VHS version on the way. It’s also headed to streaming very soon.
The meta slasher arrives on Mubi on October 2.
In Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, after years of slapdash sequels and waning fandom, the Camp Miasma slasher franchise is handed over to an enthusiastic young director for resurrection. But when she visits the original movie’s star, a reclusive actress shrouded in mystery, the two women fall into a blood-soaked world of desire, fear, and delirium.
Hannah Einbinder (“Hacks”) and Gillian Anderson (“The X-Files”) star with Jack Haven (I Saw the TV Glow) as Little Death in the film written and directed by Schoenbrun.
Amanda Fix (Lowlifes), Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice), Eva Victor (Sorry Baby), Zach Cherry (“Severance”), Sarah Sherman (“Saturday Night Live”), Patrick Fischler (“Twin Peaks”), Dylan Baker (Trick ‘r Treat), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Scream), Kevin McDonald (“The Kids in the Hall”), and Quintessa Swindell (Black Adam) round out the cast.

It’s a bloody, sapphic twist on the slasher. Just how bloody? “The blood is definitely intense,” Einbinder told BD of her first slasher experience. “I have sensory issues, like sound and certain sensations on my skin. This really tapped into one of my most visceral discomforts, which is any liquid on my skin, and then a fabric touching that. Even if it’s water, it makes my skin crawl.”
