Killer hippo horror movie Hungry is headed after making a splash on the big screen and Digital earlier this summer.
Look for Hungry to arrive on Prime Video on October 1.
A wildly unofficial adaptation of Hungry Hungry Hippos, horror movie Hungry follows thrill-seeking tourists on a riverboat tour through the treacherous Louisiana swamplands. Lured off the beaten path by the promise of an exclusive adventure, they soon find themselves fighting for survival against a ravenous hippopotamus lurking beneath the bayou’s murky waters.
Madison Davenport (It’s What’s Inside), Tracey Bonner (Greenland), Michel Curiel (“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”), Jim Meskimen (“Parks and Recreation”), Samantha Coughlan (Arcadian), Olivia Bernstone (Fighting with My Family), River Codack (“Happy Face”), and Joaquim de Almeida (Desperado) star.
James Nunn (Shark Bait, One Shot) writes and directs the UK production.
Hungry features makeup effects designed by Dan Martin (Infinity Pool, Color Out of Space), with special effects supervised by Kenneth Cassar of Extreme Effects (The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Jurassic World: Dominion) and visual effects from Magic Dust VFX (“True Detective: Night Country,” “One Piece”).
Ben Jacques (The Strangers: Prey at Night) of Signature Entertainment produces. Executive producers include Marc Goldberg, Sarah Gabriel, David Sullivan, Gareth Williams, and Ella Field.
Rob Hunter wrote in his review, “Characters are grounded and engaging, the film moves well between suspense, character beats, and action, and the effects used to bring the hippo to life are highly effective and never feel like distractions. Drop those expectations of a Hungry Hungry Hippo romp, and settle in for a terrific little survival thriller about an angry, angry hippo instead.”
