‘Twilight of the Dead’ – Filming Wraps on Kate Beckinsale Zombie Movie Based on George A. Romero Story

Kate Beckinsale in 'Underworld: Blood Wars'

Based on a treatment that was written by horror master George A. Romero before he passed away, Twilight of the Dead is positioning itself as the final chapter in Romero’s legendary zombie saga, and Deadline reports this week that filming on the project has now wrapped.

Kate Beckinsale (Underworld) will star alongside Betty Gabriel (Get Out) in Twilight of the Dead, with the cast also including Abigail London and John D. Hickman (Becky).

The Paz Brothers (Jeruzalem, The Golem) directed Twilight of the Dead, with special effects master Greg Nicotero (Day of the Dead, “The Walking Dead”) handling the makeup FX.

Greg Nicotero of course had a long history with George A. Romero, working on various Romero projects including Day of the Dead, Monkey Shines, and Land of the Dead.

The upcoming Twilight of the Dead is set on a decimated earth where the last vestiges of humanity are trapped between warring factions and an evolving undead threat.

Magenta Light Studios (Strange Darling, Deep Water) has secured the North American rights and is due to distribute the film in theaters across the U.S. and Canada.

“Stepping into Romero’s world is the ultimate privilege for any genre filmmaker,” the Paz Brothers said in a joint statement. “This is more than a continuation; it’s a responsibility. We are committed to honoring his voice while delivering a visceral, terrifying, impactful experience for today’s audience that resonates beyond the screen.”
