‘River’ Trailer – Jane Levy and Jessica Rothe Star in Next Year’s Must-See Slasher Movie Nightmare

Jane Levy (Evil Dead) and Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) lead the cast of Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s upcoming slasher film River, which has been earning rave reviews on the festival scene. From director Joshua Giuliano, the classic throwback slasher film will release in theaters January 15, 2027, and the intense official trailer has been unleashed this morning.

River is Rated R for “strong bloody violence, some grisly images, and language.”

Watch the official trailer for River below to begin the slasher nightmare.

The upcoming River follows three estranged siblings who reunite to scatter their late father’s ashes along a remote river. From there, they’re plunged into a survival horror experience.

Stranded miles from help with no cell service, they soon realize they’re being stalked by a faceless killer who has emerged from the woods. To survive the night, the siblings must put their long-standing grudges aside and fight together against a ruthless, almost mythic terror.

Max Mattern (“Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy”) and Dane DiLiegro (Prey) also star in the slasher film, which marks the feature debut of writer-director Joshua Giuliano.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review, “River doesn’t break from convention but instead uses the slasher tropes in its favor to ramp up the tension at a brisk and steady clip. It’s lean and efficient, anchored by its tremendous cast and a unique setting that’s utilized to its fullest.”

Other reviews featured in the trailer rave that the film is “a savage ride down the river… straight into the gaping jaws of horror,” as well as “a classic, visceral horror experience.”

Indiewire raves, “It will drown you in pure terror.”

To that we say… SIGN US RIGHT THE HELL UP. River is only in theaters January 15.
