Perhaps one of my favorite retrosynth groups to pop up in the past couple of years is Gunship, who I have lavished praise upon ever since seeing their video for “Fly For Your Life” over a year ago. Then, when their debut album released last summer, I found myself in the position of being unable to stop listening to the 13 tracks of retro electronic goodness. In fact, I still blast the album to this day and I don’t see any sign of stopping. It’s simply one of those collections that never gets old and refuses to leave you.
To keep momentum on the album going – and, honestly, why don’t you already have it? – the group has released a lyric video for the song “Maximum Black”, which features clips from The Crow, Dark City, Blade Runner, and Escape From New York.
