The German news site Bild is reporting that a new Metallica album could be released on October 14th. However, they are also quick to say that this was not confirmed by Universal Music Group, who license their albums for international release from the band’s own record label Blackened Recordings, which was formed back in late 2012.
News of a new Metallica album has been brewing for years, especially since it’s been eight years since the release of their last album Death Magnetic. In mid-June, there were reports that the band was actually in the mixing stage, although I have yet to see that being confirmed.
What we do know is that each of the band members have been talking about new music for a while now and they’ve each confirmed that recordings have taken place. We’ll just have to wait and see if there is something to the rumors that we’ll be getting a new album this year or if we’ll be waiting even longer.
