Now this is just a cool idea and perfect for the season! Thrash metal titans Metallica are giving their fans a chance to hear “Atlas, Rise!” a bit early on Halloween but it’s going to take some legwork to make it happen.
What’s happening is that the band has teamed up with a ton of independent music retailers that will be sent limited Hardwired…to Self Destruct masks that contain a code to stream the song 30 minutes before its release on Halloween. It’s unclear how many masks each retailer will get, what they look like, or how you’re going to be able to get them. But even with that lack of information, I’m still 100% behind this idea. It’s just so damn cool!

Hardwired…to Self Destruct is the band’s 10th studio album and follows 2008’s Death Magnetic. The band has already released two tracks, including the title track as well as the 4th track “Moth Into Flame”. Both can be streamed below. It will be released on November 18th.
