Chevelle Channels ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ in “Door to Door Cannibals” Video (Exclusive)

Published

on

We’ve teamed up with alt-hard rock band Chevelle to bring you the exclusive music video premiere for “Door to Door Cannibals”, which comes from their latest album The North Corridor. The video starts off with vocalist/guitarist Pete waking up in a strange hospital and running for his life. As he goes through the hallways, he passes rooms that contain strange, surreal, and terrifying denizens. The further down the rabbit hole he goes, the more the situation descends into chaos.

There are absolutely nods to Jacob’s Ladder in this video as well as, and this might just be me projecting, some dashes of the hospital scenes from the PC horror point-and-click game Phantasmagoria 2: A Puzzle of Flesh. If creepy hospitals give you the shivers, avoid this video!

Drummer Sam Loeffler tells BD:

Pete, Dean and I wanted to do a sort of “nightmare/horror” type video for “Door to Door Cannibals,” so we spent some time brainstorming and kicked around the idea of a mental/experimental hospital we find ourselves in and can’t wake up from. We thought it could be killer if we added some messed up elements that would make Pete freakout and question reality on his way looking for an escape, including a few open doorways with questionable events going on inside. I think we achieved a grittiness that created a sense of urgency but still left us with a little bit of creepy tongue-in-cheek style that some horror films are known for.

You can pick up The North Corridor via iTunes.

This Tempting Madness clip

A hospital stay grows more nerve-frazzling when memory loss distorts reality in our exclusive clip from This Tempting Madness, inspired by a true story.

The mind-bending psychological thriller will be released in select theaters and on demand on June 12 via Vertical.

Simone Ashley (“Bridgerton”) stars as Mia, who awakens from a coma, grievously injured, her memory fractured. As she puts the pieces of her past together, she starts to question her own actions and her perception of reality.

In This Tempting Madness, “Mia awakens from a coma grievously injured, her memory fractured. As she puts the pieces of her past together, she starts to question her own actions, and her perception of reality.”

Jennifer E. Montgomery makes her feature directorial debut from a script she co-wrote with director of photography Andrew Davis, inspired by Montgomery’s first-hand experience with tragedy involving her best friend.

“Months before the incident, there were signals that her world was unraveling,” says Montgomery. “I could feel the pressure building, though I didn’t know what form it would take. I never could have known what violence would come, and I certainly never imagined making a film about it.”

Austin Stowell (“NCIS: Origins”), Suraj Sharma (Happy Death Day 2U), Mojean Aria (Reminiscence), Amol Shah (“For All Mankind”), and Zenobia Shroff (“Ms. Marvel”) round out the cast.

Smoke Jumper Films and Mango Monster Productions produce in association with Catchlight Studios (HereticThe Blackening).

This Tempting Madness is rated R for “language, violence/bloody images, and brief sexuality.”
