With his new single, the instrumental dark synthwave / horrorwave piece “Video Nasty (feat. Jantzen)“, Vienna based producer Miles Matrix pays homage to the eponymous Video Nasties of yore, movies like I Spit On Your Grave, Just Before Dawn or Don’t Go In The House.
With the help of Seattle based multi-instrumentalist Jantzen on the Sax, Miles Matrix lets us relive the classic video nasty narrative through his song: A sleazy new jack swing intro lulls us into a false sense of security until synth stabs and an eerie bass line let us in on the notion that not all is right – before throwing us into the industrial mayhem that is the latter half of the song.
The accompanying video is a cutdown of some of Miles Matrix’ beloved Video Nasties. Fans will quickly recognize genre favorites.
