The Best Horror Game Of 2008, Voted By You!

Published

on

Though it may be cliche’ to say, “well oh gee, I never though 2008 would be as good as 2007 for horror games” bla bla bla, well it was. Yes last year BioShock demolished the competition, but with the amount of epically amazing games this year, I think the race will be a little less 1 sided.

Last year there was a little “confusion” on what a “horror” game entails. Well, the games on this list are that that would reflect anything horror, sci-fi, bloody and or disgusting, gorey, thrillerish, creepy, aliens, ghosts, zombies, vampires, plain old really weird stuff, stuff that is outside of “normal”, there are no Marios in this list, no Call Of Dutys, these are the games people cringe at. The games some people are too scared to play. The games parents don’t want their kids playing. The games that we love here on BD.

Head past the break to see the games in the running!

Alone In The Dark (PC, PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360)

Quite unpopular upon it’s release because of shotty game play, and a seemingly ridiculous need to use fire throughout the entire game, Alone In The Darks release later on for the PS3 fixed several problems, but was it good enough? Or too late?

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (Nintendo Ds)

2D Castslevania definitely at its best. Gives Castlevania Symphony Of The Night a run for it’s money.

Condemned 2 Bloodshot (PS3, Xbox 360)

Out fairly early in the year, Condemned 2 was seemingly forgot about with the release of other big hitting games later on, but solidly creepy, and improved game play from the 1st game makes this a great game.

Dead Space (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

With controls that top Resident Evil 4, and after playing the Resident Evil 5 demo, controls that even top that; E.A.’s 1st attempt at horror was a huge success. With a very unique storyline and creepy monsters with a twist of blasting off limbs to kill makes this game great.

Fallout 3 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

From the makers of the very popular Obvlivon, Fallout 3 is more than just a sequel to the previous games. It raised the bar dramatically with an amazing storyline, very in depth game world, there is so much to do in this game, and everything is different for every different player, and with countless playabillity this game will keep you locked inside for weeks.

Gears Of War 2 (Xbox 360)

Though lacking a 4 player co-op campaign mode, adding the never boring horde mode online with 5 people makes this game continuously fun to play.

Left 4 Dead (PC, Xbox 360)

Though very short, playing Left 4 Dead with your friends and killing neverending hordes of zombies never gets old. And with talks already of new campaign missions on the way this game is going to keep growing and getting better and better.

Resistance 2 (PS3)

One of the best games for PS3 by far, with amazing 8 player campaign co-op campaign onine keeps this game super fun to play with a bunch of friends.

Silent Hill Homecoming (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

With amped up graphics and much easier game play then it’s older counterparts, this game remains ome of the most enviornmentally creepiest games out there.

Siren Blood Curse (PS3/PSN)

Released exclusively on the playstation network Siren Blood Curse is one of the legit scary games I’ve played in a while. Very grainy looking, dark, and scary from the get go this game will leave a puddle under you when you finish.

So here is how it’s going to work, you are going to go HERE, and vote for the game that you think was the best of the year out of the 10 games listed. You will have 3 weeks from the date this is posted! A ton of you checked out the competition and we only had 55 votes last year, so tell your friends and lets try to get a ton more this year! SO VOTE NOW!

AreYouWatching.com: ‘The Watchers’ Interactive Website Is Full of Creepy Easter Eggs

Published

on

Are you watching? Ishana Night Shyamalan has clearly been paying attention to her father, M. Night Shyamalan. Not only is she following in his footsteps as a filmmaker, but she’s also embracing a similar mystique surrounding her work.

The new trailer for her feature directorial debut, The Watchers, gives viewers a taste of what’s in store. AreYouWatching.com has launched with even more clues.

Visit the site to join the mysterious creatures that lurk in the Irish forest as you observe a shelter. From the time the sun sets at 7:30 PM until it rises at 5:55 AM, four strangers played by Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan, and Olwen Fouere can be seen trapped inside.

You’ll find several interactive items. Click on the gramophone to set the mood with some spooky music. Tap on the birdcage to hear an ominous message from the parrot inside: “I’m going out, try not to die.” Press on the TV to watch clips from a fake reality show called Lair of Love. And if you tap on the window during the daytime … they’ll tap back.

There are also Easter eggs hidden at specific times. We’ve discovered three: a disorienting shot of Fanning’s character’s car at 5:52 PM, a closer view of the captives at 11:11 PM, and a glimpse of monitors at 12:46 AM. Let us know if you find any more in the comments…

The Watchers opens in theaters on June 14 via New Line Cinema. Ishana Night Shyamalan writes and directs, based on the 2022 novel of the same name by A.M. Shine. M. Night Shyamalan produces.
