Francis Lawrence Talks ‘I Am Legend’ Prequel
While most of my close friends and family really enjoyed Warner Bros. I AM LEGEND adaptation, I thought there were some serious problem, especially in the script. Today a new bit of information came in from Director Francis Lawrence, who will be reteaming with Will Smith for the I Am Legend prequel, that gives me hope for the next film.
“I have my beliefs on what was interesting about the first story and what was not so interesting about the first story, and I think that to go back, there has to be a truly viable reason to go back into that world that I think interested everybody, so that’s the real struggle,” Lawrence said to Sci Fi Wire. “The struggle is to find a story that brings us back in a way that’s hopefully just as interesting as the first time around.
The prequel will chronicle the final days of humanity in New York before a man-made virus caused a plague that left Smith’s character the lone survivor among a mutated mob in the city.”

The release is part of the Severin Summer Sale, launching June 26.
