Spring Shoot For ‘Piranha’, Trailer in Front of ‘FD 4’

This morning Bloody-Disgusting’s Jeff Otto sat down with Alex Aja to chat about the DVD/Blu-ray release of MIRRORS, which is now available at retailers everywhere. During the interview, Aja revealed shooting plans for his 3-D movie, Piranha, and also revealed that the plan is to have the trailer in theaters with FINAL DESTINATION 4 in August. Read on for the story.
Piranha PosterBloody-Disgusting spoke exclusively with Alex Aja this morning, who confirmed he is nearing the start date for his Piranha 3-D shoot in Arizona.

I just came back from the stage where we are finishing all the preproduction on Piranha,” Aja told BD. “We were supposed to shoot in the Fall, but for reasons like not being able to shoot the movie under the water in Winter or Fall and for location reasons, we had to push back to Spring.

Although the original July 24th release date won’t happen at this point, the bonus of the later release is Aja will now be able to show his Piranha 3-D trailer before Final Destination: Death Trip 3-D on August 21st. “[My Bloody Valentine 3-D] doesn’t have any movies to play the 3-D trailer in front of,” said Aja. “At Final Destination, you’re going to see the trailer of Piranha in 3-D and it’s already an experience. It will blow your mind! I really believe in marketing in 3-D and [Bloody] couldn’t do marketing in 3-D.

We’ll have more from Aja later today in our full exclusive interview where the director discusses what Piranha’s all about, 3-D and the release of Mirrors on DVD and Blu-ray.

The mind-bending psychological thriller will be released in select theaters and on demand on June 12 via Vertical.

In This Tempting Madness, “Mia awakens from a coma grievously injured, her memory fractured. As she puts the pieces of her past together, she starts to question her own actions, and her perception of reality.”

Jennifer E. Montgomery makes her feature directorial debut from a script she co-wrote with director of photography Andrew Davis, inspired by Montgomery’s first-hand experience with tragedy involving her best friend.

“Months before the incident, there were signals that her world was unraveling,” says Montgomery. “I could feel the pressure building, though I didn’t know what form it would take. I never could have known what violence would come, and I certainly never imagined making a film about it.”

Austin Stowell (“NCIS: Origins”), Suraj Sharma (Happy Death Day 2U), Mojean Aria (Reminiscence), Amol Shah (“For All Mankind”), and Zenobia Shroff (“Ms. Marvel”) round out the cast.

Smoke Jumper Films and Mango Monster Productions produce in association with Catchlight Studios (HereticThe Blackening).

This Tempting Madness is rated R for “language, violence/bloody images, and brief sexuality.”
