Outlander, Underworld Writing Team Tackle ‘ZMD’
The majority of people I’ve talked to really seemed to enjoy the latest Underworld film, so for those people here’s a little something to get excited about. Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain,who co-wrote the recently released Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and wrote and directed Outlander, have been hired to adapt the Red 5 comic ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction. The comic, created by Kevin Grevioux (Underworld), follows an elite team of soldiers sent on a covert operation into hostile territory in the Middle East to stop what they soon discover to be a government-created army of the undead.
In the wake of last year’s box office hit Insidious: The Red Door, Sony has announced tonight that the next installment in the Insidious franchise has been dated for 2025 release.
You can expect the untitled next movie in theaters August 29, 2025.
Deadline notes in their report tonight that this particular project is NOT the previously announced spinoff movie Thread: An Insidious Tale, which doesn’t yet have a release date.
Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani will star in Thread: An Insidious Tale.
Director James Wan’s original Insidious movie in 2011 was followed by Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015), Insidious: The Last Key (2018), and last year’s Insidious: The Red Door, which became the highest grossing movie in the entire franchise thus far.
Needless to say, this franchise still has a lot of life left in it. Stay tuned for more.
