Saw, Feast Writers Head to ‘Killing Street’

Published

With Marcus Dunstan’s The Collector arriving in theaters July 31 from Freestyle Releasing, we caught up with co-writer Patrick Melton who chatted with Bloody-Disgusting about the possibilities of a sequel to the film, along with details on the duos next project! After breaking onto the scene with Feast, Melton and Dunstan have co-written Saw IV-VI, along with the last two Feast sequels.
Before the financial woes hit the public eye, earlier this year Dimension Films was planning a monster slate of DVD releases, which included two direct-to-disc sequel to THE COLLECTOR, now being released by Freestyle Releasing. Patrick Melton tells us it will take some success to keep The Collector busy.

In terms of another Collector, that depends on the success of the first film. We’ll see come July 31st.

Being that the duo are now known as horror icons, we wanted to know if they’d continue down the same path. Melton reveals to Bloody-Disgusting that they just finished a brand new horror script.

Always more horror. Horror is in our blood (pun intended),” Melton jokes. “As for specifics, we’d like to continue writing and directing our original ideas. We just finished fine-tuning an original script called THE KILLING STREET. It’s deeply rooted in the horror world, but it also has thriller elements along the lines of SEVEN or SILENCE OF THE LAMBS.

THE COLLECTOR follows the story of handyman and ex-con Arkin, who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home. Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property – and the family. As the seconds tick down to midnight, Arkin becomes a reluctant hero trapped by a masked “Collector” in a maze of lethal invention – the Spanish Inquisition as imagined by Rube Goldberg – while trying to rescue the very family he came to rob.

THE COLLECTOR will be in theaters July 31.
