Set Report: B-D Heads Down ‘The Hole’
Joe Dante (Gremlins, Piranha, The Howling) is back again with another family horror film, The Hole, which centers on two brothers who discover a mysterious hole in the basement that leads to their worst nightmares. Today we added the first of our two-part set report that features B-D reporter Jeff Otto’s experience on set with director Joe Dante. We’re exclusively unveiling the new trailer and key art for the real-time nightmare below, ahead of the film’s release in select theaters and VOD on August 21.

When nurse Julia finds herself trapped inside the home of her dementia patient, she begins to suspect things are not what they seem; something demonic is seeping through the cracks of this old home. Trapped and with nowhere to turn, Julia soon finds herself in battle to rid the house of this evil before it is too late.
Dawn Ford, Emmanuelle Lussier Martinez, Bill Rowat, and Mark Antony Krupa star.
“This film depicts the most harrowing 90 minutes of our protagonist’s life, and I felt that the most visceral way to really feel this was to do a single-shot film,” O’Brien previously teased. “We are with her every step and misstep she takes – through the unraveling of the mystery to the horror of her discovery. It’s a fun, twisty roller-coaster ride that puts a new spin on exorcisms.”
Bury the Devil is the first installment in a planned trilogy. The prequel, Bury the Devil: Origin, is already in development with O’Brien returning to the helm.
O’Brien produces along with Philip Kalin-Hajdu (The Sacrifice Game) and Benoit Beaulieu (Turbo Kid).
