‘The Thing’ Prequel Gains Some Muscle
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, best known to me as the badass Simon Adebisi in HBO’s “OZ” and Mr. Eko in “Lost”, has landed the role of “Derek Jameson” in Universal Pictures and Strike Entertainment’s The Thing prequel that’s now underway in Toronto, Canada. Akinnuoye-Agbaje also starred in The Mummy Returns and G.I. Joe. Being directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr., he’ll star alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton. The prequel to John Carpenter’s 1981 remake takes us to a remote Antarctica outpost where an alien spaceship is discovered far beneath the ice. When a group of ambitious scientists decide to thaw out one of the creatures inside, they’re in for the terrifying fight of their lives.

‘Don’t Move’ – James “Murr” Murray’s Spider Horror Movie Releasing in September [Poster]
From the mind of “Impractical Jokers” star James “Murr” Murray, the arachnid monster movie Don’t Move will be released in theaters September 11, we’ve learned this week.
The upcoming Don’t Move adapts the 2020 novel of the same name from co-authors Murray and Darren Wearmouth. Check out the movie’s official poster down below.
James Murray writes on X, “I’m so excited to finally share that our new horror film, Don’t Move, is coming to theaters nationwide September 11th weekend! We’re celebrating with special premiere events in Kansas City (September 8th) and at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles (September 9th), featuring an early screening, cast appearances, Q&As, and red-carpet photos! Visit http://DontMoveMovie.com for tickets to the premieres before they sell out!”
Expect the official trailer for Don’t Move on Wednesday, July 8.
Lyndsy Fonseca (Kick-Ass), Russell “Russ” Vitale, and Tom Cavanagh (The Flash) star alongside Hunter King (Life in Pieces), Rob Riggle (The Hangover), and Joseph Lee Anderson (Young Rock). Expect plenty of cameos including T-Pain, Matt Biedel, and “Impractical Jokers” members James Murray and Brian Quinn.
In Don’t Move, a church group’s annual retreat turns deadly when they wander into the wrong part of the Ozark wilderness, and something starts picking them off one by one.
Suspicion falls on Ricky (Russell “Russ” Vitale), the troublemaker of the group. But the real threat is far worse. Deep in the forest, wrapped in a labyrinth of webs, the group is pursued by a terrifying prehistoric arachnid that hunts by vibration. When every step could be their last, they only have one choice: Don’t Move.
It’s up to Megan (Lyndsy Fonseca) to hold what’s left of the group together and get them out alive.
Maclain Nelson (Vamp U) directed from the script he co-wrote with Murray and Wearmouth.
David M. Wulf produces the film that hails from Murr’s new banner Impractical Studios and counts Jeremy Starline, Gina James, Lou Magrone, Rich Osiashvili and Brian Schell as executive producers. Ethan Berman is a co-producer, while Kylie Rohead associate produces.
