It’s a Poster Bonanza! New One Sheets for ‘Piranha’, ‘Killer Inside Me’, & ‘True Blood’
It’s a poster bonanza this afternoon! Inside you’ll find a super boring international look at Piranha 3D, which arrives in theaters August 27. Then there’s a Korean poster for IFC Films’ The Killer Inside Me, the controversial Jessica Alba thriller on demand on June 9 before arriving in theaters June 18. Then there’s the official limited release one sheet for Dogtooth, a horror comedy arriving in New York theaters this weekend. Lastly, you’ll also find a rash of character posters for this weekend’s third season premiere of “True Blood”. Weeeeewwww.
DOGTOOTH
“A hyper-stylized mixture of physical violence and verbal comedy, Dogtooth is a darkly funny look at three teenagers confined to their parents’ isolated country estate and kept under strict rule and regimen — an inscrutable scenario that suggests a warped experiment in social conditioning and control. Terrorized into submission by their father, the children spend their days devising their own games and learning an invented vocabulary (a salt shaker is a “telephone,” an armchair is “the sea”) — until a trusted outsider, brought in to satisfy the son’s libidinal urges, plants the seeds of rebellion by trading VHS tapes for sexual favors.”

PIRANHA 3D
“Jaws… lots and lots of jaws. From acclaimed director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) comes the new action thriller PIRANHA 3D, in the latest eye-popping 3D technology. A new type of terror is about to be cut loose on beautiful Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new razor-toothed residents. But our heroine (Elisabeth Shue) is seriously outnumbered, and with only one chance to save the lake and her family from totally being devoured, she must risk everything to destroy the aquatic carnivores herself.”

THE KILLER INSIDE ME
“Based on the classic novel by legendary pulp writer Jim Thompson (called by Stanley Kubrick “the most chilling and believable first-person story of a criminally warped mind I have ever encountered”), The Killer Inside Me tells the story of handsome, unassuming small town sheriff’s deputy Lou Ford (Affleck). A quiet charmer of his idyllic West Texas town, Ford has a simple life and a pretty girl (Hudson) to come home to. But when the job brings him face-to-face with a gorgeous prostitute (Alba) on the edge of town, Ford’s fragile world cracks – unbridling his own dark urges. In The Killer Inside Me’s blacker-than-noir universe, nothing is ever what it seems.”

How to Watch ‘Cam’ Free Online After the Tech Thriller Left Netflix
Before updating the video nasty Faces of Death, director Daniel Goldhaber and writer Isa Mazzei explored the dangers of online life in tech-thriller Cam, their feature debut that was acquired by Netflix in 2018 after making waves on the festival circuit.
At the end of last year, the Netflix exclusive quietly departed from the streaming platform, left without another streaming home.
It’s not an isolated story; Mike Flanagan’s Hush also left streaming entirely for a period until it was finally picked up on both physical media and other streaming services.
While the tech-thriller currently isn’t available to watch on Netflix, Tubi, Hulu, or any other platforms, that’s not a problem for Cam thanks to a very cool move by Goldhaber: the director has made his breakout film accessible to watch online for free via his website.
As his site notes: “CAM is unfortunately not currently available to view on any platforms, so you can watch it here if you like :).“
No subscriptions or fees necessary, just hit play.
Cam follows Alice (Madeline Brewer), who works as an online cam girl obsessed with her ranking on the cam site. The higher her ranking goes, the more it draws unwanted attention, and Alice soon finds herself replaced on her own show with a doppelganger.
Written by Mazzei, a former camgirl, it uses the horror thriller premise to examine the life of a sex worker; Alice’s career ambition is directly at odds with the shame it brings to her family, and how she tries to spare them from it by keeping them in the dark. It only compounds her danger when the doppelganger enters the equation in Goldhaber’s engaging thriller.
For a deep dive into the treacherous world of Cam, listen to Horror Queers’ episode on it now.
