Dave Mustaine Likes To Put His Foot In His Mouth

Welp, Megadeth‘s Dave Mustaine is proving once again that he doesn’t really give a flying f*ck what people think about his views. In a recent interview with LA Weekly, Mustaine spoke about African women and the number of children they have.
“I really think that, if the parents aren’t going to stick together, they shouldn’t make that kind of commitment to life. I watch some of these shows from over in Africa, and you’ve got starving women with six kids. Well, how about, you know, put a plug in it? It’s like, you shouldn’t be having children if you can’t feed them.”
Really Dave? Really??

Let me start by saying that, in principal, I agree with Dave. Two consenting adults should make the mature decision of knowing whether or not they are capable of bringing a child into this world. There are financial responsibilities, time constraints, and a vast multitude of other topics that need to be addressed before a couple takes the plunge into becoming a family. No argument there.

But I also don’t believe that parents go into making a child with the lurking thought that they won’t be together. Perhaps some do so in the hopes that it can force the partner to stay, but I consider that to be such a rarity as to be viewed as an outlier.
But to talk about African women like that? The sheer naïvety of that comment is almost mind blowing! Let’s start with the simple fact that a huge portion of the African population doesn’t have access to any form of birth control aside from pulling out (sorry to be so blunt, but it’s the truth). Why is that? Because these countries are beyond poor and there are far greater problems that they have to deal with, such as disease, corruption, starvation, war, etc…
Then there is the fact that the percentage of rape in Africa is pretty much statistically the highest on the planet. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, it is estimated that 400,000 women are raped per year. That equates to 48 women per hour (source). Do these men use condoms or birth control? Nope. Not at all.
In South Africa, it’s around 67,000 per year. As for punishment? Pretty much nonexistent. Most cases don’t even make it to trial. And want to know the really f*cked up thing? The amount of sexual violence against children (as in the age is still counted in months) is extraordinarily high because of the myth that sex with a child will cure a man of HIV.
And talking about how these moms are starving? Have you not been seeing reports of the widespread statistics regarding the lack of food that these people are getting? They do not have enough food to go around and it’s not their fault. Corrupt regimes, violent dictators, rebellions and uprisings, etc… all steal food to support their “greater” cause.
So what should two loving African people do, Dave? Should they not have children when all they want to do is carry on their name and try and give a better life to their young ones? Should they stop having sex because there is no birth control available? How about you come up with a solution rather than just stating a bullshit opinion.
African women should put a plug in it Dave? How about you put a plug in your mouth and shut the hell up when it comes to making inane, insensitive statements like that.

“He Walks By Night” – Listen to a Brand New John Carpenter Song NOW!

John Carpenter music

It’s a new day, and you’ve got new John Carpenter to listen to. John Carpenter, Daniel Davies and Cody Carpenter have released the new track He Walks By Night this morning, the second single off their upcoming album Lost Themes IV: Noir, out May 3 on Sacred Bones Records.

Lost Themes IV: Noir is the latest installment in a series that sees Carpenter releasing new music for John Carpenter movies that don’t actually exist. The first Lost Themes was released in 2015, followed by Lost Themes II in 2016 and Lost Themes III: Alive After Death in 2021.

Sacred Bones previews, “It’s been a decade since John Carpenter recorded the material that would become Lost Themes, his debut album of non-film music and the opening salvo in one of Hollywood’s great second acts. Those vibrant, synth-driven songs, made in collaboration with his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies, kickstarted a musical renaissance for the pioneering composer and director. With Lost Themes IV: Noir, they’ve struck gold again, this time mining the rich history of the film noir genre for inspiration.

“Since the first Lost Themes, John has referred to these compositions as “soundtracks for the movies in your mind.” On the fourth installment in the series, those movies are noirs. Like the film genre they were influenced by, what makes these songs “noirish” is sometimes slippery and hard to define, and not merely reducible to a collection of tropes. The scores for the great American noir pictures were largely orchestral, while the Carpenters and Davies work off a sturdy synth-and-guitar backbone.

“The trio’s free-flowing chemistry means Lost Themes IV: Noir runs like a well-oiled machine—the 1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster from Kiss Me Deadly, perhaps, or the 1958 Plymouth Fury from John’s own Christine. It’s a chemistry that’s helped power one of the most productive stretches of John’s creative life, and Noir proves that it’s nowhere near done yielding brilliant results.”

You can pre-save Lost Themes IV: Noir right now! And listen to the new track below…
