Gearing up for the San Diego Comic Con, Miramax has announced a January 21, 2011 release for Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, the Guillermo del Toro produced remake starring Katie Holmes (Batman Begins), Guy Pearce (The Road), and Bailee Madison. Del Toro and Matthew Robbins penned the adaptation of a 1973 ABC telepic, penned by Nigel McKeand. Directed by Troy Nixey, the story centers on a young girl, portrayed by Madison, who’s sent to live with her father (Pearce) and his girlfriend (Holmes) in the old mansion they are renovating, where she unwittingly unleashes malevolent creatures bent on destroying all of them.
