After star Aaron Eckhart confirmed that there will be no Joker in Batman 3 (and that Two-Face is really dead), Battle: Los Angeles director Jonathan Liebesman talked briefly about the alien invasion thriller that arrives in theaters March 11. He explains that James Cameron’s Aliens influenced how the aliens look in Battle — because unknown creatures that are unidentifiable to him are really terrifying (as opposed to the alien insects from District 9). Revolving around a Marine staff sergeant (Eckhart) and his new platoon’s battle against an alien invasion on the streets of Los Angeles, the flick is more like an actual war movie and nothing like Independence Day where basically just landmarks get blown up, says Liebesman.
