Sony Screen Gems has become a new definition for “mediocre”. With thrillers like The Stepfather and When a Stranger Calls under their belt, they’re taking on a new generic thriller that looks like a direct rip-off of Single White Female. In theaters February 4, 2011, Christian E. Christiansen’s The Roommate centers on Sara, a college student randomly assigned to a freshman dorm with a stranger named Rebecca. They start off as friends but things turn deadly as Rebecca begins to target people in Sara’s life. The first trailer debuted last night in front of Devil and has since made its way online.
